Teamwork makes the dream work

─── Dr. Sussie Eshun ───

Psychologist, Founder

I am a scientist-practitioner who integrates research and clinical practice through evidence-based therapeutic approaches. With over 30 years of experience teaching in undergraduate and doctoral programs, my research has focused on sociocultural influences on mental health, including depression, stress, suicidal behaviors, and acculturation. My vision is to support individuals and families through life’s transitions, helping them build resilience and flourish much like the butterfly’s journey of transformation.

I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and have been in private practice since 2005. I hold an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY, and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ghana. My clinical training includes an internship at the Anxiety and Depression Clinic at Montefiore Hospital, Einstein College of Medicine (NY), along with externships in psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessment, as well as chronic pain management at centers with Stony Brook University.

Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor

I am a licensed counselor in Pennsylvania and New York, holding an MA in Mental Health Counseling from Yeshiva University in New York and a BA in Psychology and Africana Studies from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. My clinical training includes an internship at the Rose F. Kennedy Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center at Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, where I worked with adolescents with a focus on psychoeducation and behavior modification. I also completed an internship with the TRIO Upward Bound Program, supporting first-generation students in their preparation for college.

I have worked as a licensed mental health counselor at Empower Your Mind Therapy in Manhattan, providing individual therapy to adults with concerns such as anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, and personality disorders. I also facilitated DBT Skills and Neurodivergent Processing groups and served as a supervisor and internship coordinator for counselors-in-training. My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, drawing from CBT and DBT while honoring each client’s cultural background, identity, and lived experience. I believe deeply in the power of support and remain committed to helping clients feel seen, heard, and hopeful.
